SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19 disease. |
The current pandemic caused by a virus known as SARS-CoV-2, resulting in COVID-19 disease, has resulted in many changes in our everyday lives. It is currently understood that the virus spreads mainly through the respiratory tract/ inhalation of the virus, its deposition on exposed mucous membranes, and indirectly from contacting infected surfaces and then touching one’s face/ mucous membranes. COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, sputum production, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of sensation of smell or taste. Some may not develop any symptoms.
The UK rolled out a vaccination programme as one of its strategies to tackle the pandemic, however some members of the public might not be vaccinated due to ineligibility, medical contraindications/ exemptions or personal preference. Therefore my strict safety measures continue to remain in place. Key elements will continue to be monitoring my own health, screening patients before visits, careful hygiene, disinfecting surfaces between patients, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and spacing appointments to manage social distancing and allow for appropriate air exchange in the room between patients. Further to that, I am using an air purification system capturing 99.5% of ultra-fine particles as small as 0.003 µm, removing 99.9% bacteria and viruses (Philips NanoProtect HEPA filter Series 2). It is again a requirement to wear face masks within healthcare settings. Please see the full Covid Measure Policy. For home visits, please read my Home Visit Procedure Form.
