Home visits are available on Mainland Orkney for paediatric appointments only, these will be up to 90 minutes long at £85.

New and follow-up appointments for adults are up to 70 minutes long at £75.
***Please note new appointments for adults will be 80 minutes long at £85 as of January 2025***

New appointments for children are up to 70 minutes long at £75; follow-ups are 40 minutes at £55; sometimes older children and teenagers will have a 55 minute appointment at £65.

ScarWork™ appointments are 85 minutes for a new patient at £85 and follow-ups are 70-85 minutes.

Please wait for me downstairs inside the pharmacy near the carpark exit and I will collect you at the time of your appointment. 

Cancellation policy - ​Appointments cancelled within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time are charged at 50% of the full fee. Appointments cancelled on the day or no shows are charged at 100% of the fee. 

Private Insurance.

I am registered with most private insurance companies. You will be expected to pay in full for your treatment and will be provided with an invoice to claim the payment from your insurer.

I am not registered with BUPA or AXA. They might agree to partly reimburse you, subject to a prior agreement with them.

If you cannot afford treatment, you may be eligible for a charitable grant, please visit Turn2Us. 
And Frederic Andrew Trust support women with financial grants following an illness or injury. 

What to expect during your appointment.

An online health screening form is required to be filled up to 24 hours before every face-to-face appointment. 

Paediatric appointment

The first appointment consists of taking your child's case history, consisting of detailed questions about your concerns, any interventions by other ​practitioners, details of pregnancy, birth, developmental milestones, dietary habits, immunisations, family medical history, etc. 

​You will be asked to undress your child to her/his nappy/underwear/shorts and the examination will follow, consisting of some movements and hands-on palpation.

We will then discuss my findings, and I will explain how I can help, over what period of time and an outline of a treatment plan, which on average takes 3 appointments.  ​I will refer you to another specialist if necessary.

If treatment is suitable, once consent is given, I will treat your child, explaining what I am doing along the way. Your child will experience no pain during the appointment; vast majority of babies feed during treatments, some sleep and majority are entertained by parents.
 
For children under 3 years of age, please bring their Personal Child Health Record, referred to as the Red book, hospital discharge papers and any other reports.

​If your child is 16 or under, they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. 

Adult appointment

The first appointment consists of taking detailed questions about your concerns and your medical history, including your general health, accidents, injuries, operations, etc. 

You may then be asked to dress down to your underwear (this is not always necessary), please bring shorts and a vest for your comfort. A physical examination will follow consisting of some active and passive movements and hands-on palpation.

We will then discuss my findings. I will explain how I can help and over what period of time, outlining  a treatment plan. Once agreed, you will also be treated. I will refer you to another specialist if necessary.

Note - depending on your concerns, an internal examination  may need to be undertaken (vaginal or rectal, such as for coccygeal injuries, prolapses, or scar tissue release). This will only happen with your written consent and not during the first appointment.

* If you are unwell or self-isolating, you will be offered an online consultation and I will provide you with self-care advice and exercise until such time it is safe for an in-clinic appointment.

Please feel free to ask questions and inform me if you feel any discomfort or pain at any point during the examination and treatment. Communication is key in both directions. You can change your mind and withdraw your consent at any point throughout your appointment. If chaperone is required, I will need to be informed in advance and they will have to satisfy our COVID-19 screening prior to your appointment. 

Patient feedback/ reviews.

An acquaintance recommended PK Osteopathy following my concerns for my 20-month-old daughter regarding her walking. My daughter was a unilateral right toe walker and unbeknown to me had been caused by a tight/shortened gastrocnemius (calf muscle).
I found Petra's approach calming, knowledgeable and professional.  As a client who does not understand medical jargon, I left after the first session more aware of my daughter's situation and a better understanding of what may be happening with her foot. Petra explained what she could do for us with osteopathy and discussed the need for further medical intervention.  I knew instantly I wanted to continue using her services.
After two sessions myself and the family noticed an improvement is my daughter's walking.  Although she was not walking flat on her right foot yet, she had lowered her heel towards the floor.  It was a step in the right direction and continued until I received an appointment with a Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant.
I am happy to say my daughter is walking flat on both feet following serial casting; however, I have no doubt the osteopathy sessions with Petra contributed to my daughter's progress and boosted her the confidence.  She is running at every possible moment!

Since giving birth and suffering PGP (pelvic girdle pain) I sought many professionals for treatment, however once I found Petra; who specialises in woman's health, I saw a significant improvement in my pain. Not only did she help treat and align my hips, but also worked on other chronic back pain which I experienced for many years. We came to Petra with our 7 month old baby, who was born 5 weeks premature, as we were concerned about her delayed development. During the initial assessment, Petra went to great length to really get to know our baby, understand her medical history and the events surrounding her birth. Petra was incredibly open and explained how she could help with our baby's development, what each component of the treatment was and what it was likely to do.
